Security expert moves from the National Crime Agency where he served as Director of International Operations

LONDON, July 18, 2019 – Callsign today announced the appointment of Ian Cruxton as the company’s inaugural Chief Security Officer (CSO). Ian moves from his position as Director of International Operations at the National Crime Agency (NCA).

ian-cruxtonAs Callsign continues to expand its customer base, particularly in the financial services sector, Ian has been brought in to support both the security of the business and its clients. With security being so high on the corporate agenda it is important that the organisation takes a holistic approach, and Ian’s experience will strengthen the company’s capability in this area.

During his time at the NCA, Ian was selected to set up the NCAT (National and NCA tasking and co-ordination function). He was then promoted to Director of the Organised Crime Command, briefing the Home Secretary on the changing nature of threat and the operational response. For the past two years Ian led the NCA’s International Operations, where his responsibilities included the UK’s Interpol, Europol and International Liaison Officer network.

Other previous roles include Director of the UK Division at the National Criminal Intelligence Service and roles in Proceeds of Crime and Tasking and Co-ordination at the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA). Until Ian joined Callsign he was also the G7 UK Law Enforcement Lead and Chair of the G7 Law Enforcement Group.

Commenting on the appointment, Zia Hayat, CEO and Founder of Callsign said, “Ian’s track record in security and law enforcement is truly staggering, and we feel incredibly privileged to have such a high calibre individual on our team. As the company grows, we reached a point where we needed to take our security to the next level, and we believe that Ian is best placed to undertake this role and assist the leadership team as the business continues to scale.”

Ian Cruxton added, “Having been in law enforcement and security for over three decades, I have seen the impact that technology has had on this landscape. What has been apparent to me, is that the issue of identity now underpins a majority of crime. Therefore, when I learned about Callsign’s ambitions and technology I immediately wanted to get involved. With my strong expertise in strategic leadership and operational management, I can’t wait to draw upon my skills to help take the company forward.”
